Philosophy of Education Video

George Bernard Shaw said “I am not a teacher; only a fellow traveler of whom you asked the way. I pointed ahead–ahead of myself as well as of you. I see myself in the same light, that of a life long learner, and my mission with my students is to guide them to being life long learners as well."
  • This is a video of my philosophy of presentation. I believe that our main goal and priority as teachers it to teach our students to be life long learners and to be more than a teacher to them; but to also be a mentor and someone who can teach their students to try, to do, and to learn.
  1. The first lesson I learned when I stepped into the classroom was that there is no single philosophy of education that encompasses all the life skills and academics a child needs to be a successful and productive member of the global community.
  2. Teaching is multifaceted and cannot be limited to the concepts outlined in pedagogies. While at Yaakoosge I have learned that literacy and teaching went far beyond “how to write an essay, read a book, and regurgitate facts.”
  3. Every lesson I teach is challenged in its relevance and importance to my students’ lives, as I’m preparing my students for future endeavors in the work force, post-secondary education, and life.
  4. Education should reflect the process of students growing as people, members of their community, and becoming life-long learners capable of finding their place in the world. Students need structure, guidance, and thoughtful curriculums that empower them to become well-rounded human beings.
